The issue of ‘missing people’ has been somewhere in the air for quite sometime now, however it was sometimes chosen to be talked about by the media and sometimes not. Sometimes brought up by the Chief Justice, sometimes not. Few days back the Chief Justice ordered the show up of the missing people like never before. Seven out of many were brought to the front. Two of which were sons of a woman whose eldest son had already died at the hands of the ISI. When these two were brought to the court, their condition was such that they couldn’t walk themselves and the mother couldn’t bear it, weak enough to die later of a cardiac arrest.
We have become immune to listening or reading news regarding casualties everyday, however news like this where our army, supposedly the only ‘alive and kicking’ institution that we have, is involved in inhumane incidences like this is a moment of immense worry for the nation.
Who is responsible for the disaster that those numerous people’s lives have become? Who is responsible for those countless grieved families who have nowhere to go to? If our system of justice gets this late every time, who are we to seek justice from? Who is responsible for the years of tears that mothers have shed and then see their children one last time in a condition unbearable?
Meanwhile, our political parties found a point to raise finger on the government and the ‘uncontrolled’ army. PML(N), constantly in search of a flaw, has finally tried to reach out to people through case of these missing persons. What good was ever achieved by playing blame games, when they themselves have not been able to control a petty disease, how were they going to control an army this powerful?
