Brigadier Ali Khan of the Pakistan Army, currently being tried by a military court for his alleged role in projected mutiny against the civilian and military set up that aimed at establishing a caliphate system in Pakistan after taking control of government.
His former colleague and chief of Triple One Brigade, Major General Amir Riaz, told a foreign media outlet on Tuesday that Khan had met the head of Palestinian Hizbul Tahreer, with whom he wanted to stage coup. Riaz, who has now been promoted to the rank of major general and also a defence witness in the case, further revealed that Khan was dissatisfied with the prevalent political system and with the working of military top brass so he intended to introduce the caliphate system in the country.
Riaz claimed that he was also told that HT had prepared a constitution for running of affairs of Pakistan, besides bringing in a shadow government that would be ready to function anytime.
According to prosecution documents, Khan told one of his old friends that he had close links with HT and had met the head of its Palestinian chapter.
Khan also told him that HT was fully capable of establishing caliphate and good governance in Pakistan, the witness said.
Riaz also said Khan was of the view that his hatched plan could not be implemented without a support from the incumbent military leadership.
He divulged that he was also enjoying the support of some elements in the Pakistan Air Force who with close cooperation of HT would eliminate the military top hierarchy by targeting corps commander meetings scheduled at the GHQ. He claimed that Khan also asked him to take control of important buildings in Islamabad but he refused to cooperate after which Khan started working upon other officers to persuade them to join his plans.

  1. What a crazy plan! I totally agree that the political system is an absolute failure and we need to think beyond the secular-capitalist-democratic paradigm established by the west. HT is a secretive organization whose structure is of concern…one never really knows who one is dealing with and everybody seems to have a british accent. Its unfortunate that such incidents make a genuine movement for change that much more difficult

  3. Haha, what a story. Brig Ali was arrested after he spoke vehemently in the core commanders meeting and the officer was unhappy from him for that. He was going to retire after 15 days. The military had nothing against him and now these generals are cooking up wild stories to indict him.If this was really the case he could have been picked up quite sometime ago since such plans can’t go undetected for long. By the way if he really was planning a coup against this corrupt system then he would get all my support. Allah says in the quran
‘Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah , and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Taghut. So fight against the allies of Satan. Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.’
