The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday upheld results for seven general seats of the Senate from Balochistan, earlier withheld over rigging allegations. The ECP carried out a vote recount and approved the previous results of Balochistan declared by the provincial returning officer. The results were withheld on March 2 after PML-N complained of rigging and the wrong use of ballot-papers.
Awami Nation Party’s Dawood Khan was declared winner after the recount, as the PML-N provincial president Israrullah Zehri had raised objection over the rejection of one of his vote. Moreover Nawab Magsi, Syed Hasan, Mir Israr Zehri, Muhammad Daoud Achakzai, Sardar Yousuf and other candidates were declared triumphant.
