The ICT administration is launching first round of anti-dengue drive in the rural areas of Islamabad from March 12 under which 100,000 pamphlets containing information about the preventive measures against dengue will be distributed among the local community, says a press release issued here on Tuesday. The main focus of first round will be social mobilising and creating awareness in the community about anti-dengue measures. Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed said that first round of anti-dengue drive would focus on creating awareness in the community to keep their surroundings and houses free from mosquitoes for which district health department, Islamabad, doctors of rural health facilities, local union councils and assistant commissioners had been activated to carry out survey of rural areas and ensure all preventive measures against dengue.
The DC said that 332 mobile teams constituted for carrying out vaccination against polio in the 12 union councils of Islamabad during the up-coming anti-polio drive starting from March 12 had also been assigned the task of distributing pamphlets in the community for preventive measures against dengue. The fogging, fumigation and anti-mosquito spray would be conducted in the second round and the teams would ensure elimination of breeding places of mosquitoes. Last year, the administration had constituted 14 teams for carrying out anti-mosquitoes spray in the rural areas of Islamabad. These teams will be activated during this year.
Last year data of dengue patients was looked into and vulnerable areas were visited by the teams as well. According to press release, the DC said that the ICT Administration has also prepared a two years plan of action against dengue which would be implemented in a befitting manner in order to provide mosquito free environment to the people. The ICT Administration has also urged the local community to take all preventive measures against the dengue and keep their surrounding clean and mosquito free.
