SC directs re-issue of notices to Musharraf, Babar Awan

Supreme Court Monday directed to again issue notices to five parties including former President General (rtd.) Pervez Musharraf and former Federal Law Minister Babar Awan in an appeal regarding the second FIR of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the appeal about the second FIR lodged regarding Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
Prosecutor General Punjab Malik Sadaqat Ali told the court that trial court declared Musharraf a proclaimed absconder.
The Chief Justice said the court has nothing to do with it, adding no unilateral action can be taken up.
The court also accepted a plea to make Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a party to the case.
Inspector General of Punjab Police told the court that order for notices to Saud Aziz, Yasin Farooq, Khurram Shahzad could not be implemented. On this, the court directed the early implementation.
Inspector General of Islamabad told the court that a notice was sent to the current address of Musharraf; however, it came back. The court ordered to affix the notice on the wall of Musharraf’s residence.
The court directed to re-send the notice after eliciting the correct address of Babar Awan’s residence.
The case hearing adjourned for two weeks
