Pakistan on Monday successfully test-fired the short range surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile Hatf II (Abdali), as part of the process of validation of land-based ballistic missile systems.
“Hatf II (Abdali), with a range of 180kms, carries nuclear as well as conventional warheads with high accuracy. It provides an operational level capability to Pakistan’s strategic forces, additional to the strategic and tactical level capability, which Pakistan already possesses,” said an ISPR statement. The test was witnessed by Strategic Plans Division Director General Lieutenant General (r) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Army Strategic Force Command Commander Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, senior officers from the armed forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations.
