CAAD least bothered about PM’s directives!

Despite the passage of 16 months, when Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani made announcement for up-gradation of all teachers working in various educational institutions of Islamabad, the authorities concerned failed to promote college teachers.
The prime minister announced to upgrade the teachers on October 8, 2010. Later, the Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD) issued a notification for the promotions of teachers through time-scale formula and notified that the teachers would be given promotions after the departmental promotion committees’ meetings.
However, CAAD paying no heed for holding departmental promotion committee’s meeting for discussing the promotion cases of grade 18 teachers, who have been waiting for their promotion for the last many years.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Professor Tahir Mahmood of H/8 College said: “The college teachers are still uncertain about their promotions. The teachers working in grade 18 are running from pillar to post for their due up gradation, but officers at the helm of affairs deliberately using delaying tactics,” he said.
Whereas, around 700 junior lady teachers of Islamabad Model Colleges are also waiting for the last 14 months for their promotion from grade 16 to 17, but CAAD and FDE paying no heed towards their promotions.
When contacted, FDE Director General Atif Kiani said that FDE and CAAD were working on teachers’ promotion cases, adding that now all teachers promotions was a matter of few weeks.
