PGMI to be named Ameer-ud-Din Medical College

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, has approved the name “Ameer-ud-Din Medical College” for the proposed PGMI Medical College. This was disclosed by Prof Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital. Prof Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that the name of the college was suggested by faculty members of PGMI in recognition of the great services rendered by Emiratis Professor of Surgery Dr Ameer-ud-Din which has now been approved by the PMDC also.
He said that the new medical college would be affiliated with Lahore General Hospital and its students would be taught and guided by the seasoned and experienced faculty members of PGMI; through which they would help them excel along with their college at the global level. Prof Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is making all out efforts for the promotion of medical education and provision of medical facilities in the province. He said that Ph.D programme is also being introduced at PG|MI in accordance with CM’s vision. This programme would go a long way to turn PGMI into one of the great medical institutions in the region, he added. Prof. Dr. Tariq Salah-ud-Din also informed that an NGO has committed to provided one million dollars to PGMI for the programme to send doctors to USA for higher medical education, specialization and research.
