Lack of education can cause earthquakes … apparently

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said education was the key to progress and development of any nation.
Educational backwardness and illiteracy was the only reason behind all devastations and natural punishments, he added. He expressed his views on the 9th Foundation Day Academic Prize Distribution ceremony organised by School for Contemporary and Islamic Learning at Alhamra Cultural Complex here on Saturday. School Director Gul Abbas Mela, Principal Mrs Zakira Yousuf, students and their parents and Principal Punjab University College of Information Technology Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar were also present on the occasion.
Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the Muslims had not realised that the 722 verses of Holy Quran, which is 1/8th of the Holy Book, stressed focus on the mysteries of the universe. He said Almighty Allah had promised His blessings including power, respect and wealth to only that nation who educated itself.
He said that Allah did not value verbal beliefs and that religion was for the betterment of the world. The nation is always dominant that studied the mysteries of universe and recreated knowledge. He said that the exercise of offering prayer and fasting made us strong physically and mentally and advised students to join research oriented profession in the future. Dr Mujahid also stressed upon the students that they should abide by discipline in life. He congratulated the students and their parents who got prizes. Director of SCIL Gul Abbas Mela thanked PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran for coming and appreciated the students as well. He congratulated the successful students and told their parents that if they wanted to see their children have a better future they must co operate with the teachers. He advised their parents to prevent their children from the ‘negative use’ of mobiles and internet.
