Residents of the areas alongside Adiala Road have protested for water supply scheme in their area for being deprived of drinking water facilities since long. “All the areas including Ali Town, Munawar Colony, Kehkshan Colony, Jarahi and others are thickly populated but no water supply scheme has been approved and even the political pundits are not paying any attention to this burning issue. They come here only during polls and never return after the polls are over. We are forced to drink unhygienic water, said a group of citizens.
“We are forced to purchase water tank at the hefty rates ranging between Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 daily. We are low paid employees. How long can we bear these expenses daily, questioned scores of low grade employees. “One or two members of every family residing here is suffering from water born diseases due to use of unhygienic water. If this situation prevails then the whole area will turn into a hospital of victims of filthy drinking water, said Ejaz Shaheen a social worker.Residents of the area have demanded of government to ensure supply of drinking water by approving water supply schemes and ensuring their early completion.
