Four runs by Arshad Khan and three each by Farooq, Arif, and Rashid helped Army retain the title, crushing Wapda 18-1 in the final of the Shaheed Kamran Inter-department Baseball Championship at the UCP ground Lahore on Thursday.
Army dominated the final from its start to finish as Wapda failed to put on any tough fight. The soldiers made three runs in the first innings as Farooq, Arif, Arshad were the scorers. In the second innings, Army added three more to take 6-0 lead as Imtiaz, Umair and Arshad collected one run each. The third innings was barren as no team could score any run. But in the fourth innings, Army again resumed the scoring and put on three more runs as Imtiaz, Arif, Farooq chipped in one run each. Asif scored the solitary run for Wapda in this innings. In the fifth innings, the offensive Army plundered three more runs through Rashid, Arshad and Arif, who hit home run. Army continued the domination and added three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to earn a convincing win. Rashid (2), Arshad, Farooq, Umair and Imtiaz added one run each in the last two innings. President Pakistan Federation Baseball Shaukat Javed was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
