One man was killed and four others sustained injuries on Thursday when a member of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) opened fire during a dispute outside the Jamia Darul Quran madrassa in the Muslimabad Colony located in Quaidabad. The dispute started outside the madrassa where, according to police sources, it escalated when the FC’s Mohammad Khurshid called in an FC mobile with other personnel in it and they opened fire.
Mohammad Rehman, 25, was killed in the attack, while Shaukat, Ali Zaman, Sher Jan and Zarwali Khan were injured as a result of the firing. They were shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre. After the incident, the madrassa students and other members of the public went to the Quaidabad police station to protest. They surrounded the police station and started hurling rocks at it, but the mob was warded off by the police. Four members of the FC, including Mohammad Khurshid, have been detained by the police for interrogation but no case has been registered against them yet.
