Fear of exposure by high authorities forced Sihala police to register an FIR five month after the murder of a woman from an African country, it is learnt. The police had almost forgotten to register the incident. During inspection of the record the other day, it came to the notice of the Sihala SHO that a foreign national had been murdered some five months back in his jurisdiction and that her case had yet to be registered. And it was on February 28 (Tuesday) that an FIR under Section 302 was registered against some unknown killers. Sources said that on September 27, 2011, Sihala police found the dead body of an unknown African young woman who has yet to be identified.
The police temporarily buried the body after autopsy. On December 30, the autopsy report issued by Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) suggested that the woman had been strangulated to death. But despite this report, the police didn’t bother to register an FIR. Talking to Pakistan Today, Sub Inspector Anwar Mahmood confirmed that the woman in question was murdered some five months ago, but said that he had no idea why the case was registered so late.
