Central PPP leader and former party provincial president, Senator Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, has decided to quit the party over its policies on Balochistan. Sources close to Senator Lashkari said on Wednesday that after developing differences with the party leadership vis-à-vis Balochistan, Raisani had decided to resign from the basic membership of the party. He has been a critic of the PPP’s policies on Balochistan and been castigating the controversial statements of Interior Minister Rahman Malik regarding Baloch leaders. In his recent statement, the senator said practical steps were needed for the solution of prevailing serious situation of Balochistan, instead of telling lies. The sources said he would soon make an announcement about quitting the party in a press conference next week. He is believed to have decided to join Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and can become a very strong candidate for the chief minister’s slot in the next political set up.
