Appealing to the media to not invite Baloch rebel leaders in their talk shows, Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday said the government had kicked off the process of talks with the disgruntled Baloch people. Talking to reporters after his visit to NADRA Headquarters, Malik said Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani had sent a list of 930 missing persons. However, after investigation only 48 were found to be missing. “People are launching propaganda on the issue of missing persons of Balochistan,” he said, adding that the situation in Balochistan was better than that of other provinces.
The minister said he would send two officials to the camp set up by the relatives of missing persons in Islamabad to match the figures with the list in the Interior Ministry. Malik said talks were going on with the disgruntled Baloch people, adding that no talks would be held with those who wanted to dismember Pakistan. Malik said evidence was gathered regarding the Kohistan incident and place where the militants came from had been identified. He said 20 militants were involved in the firing. He said a committee had been formed for the restoration of sacked NADRA employees.
