Foreign players make National Polo more competitive

The presence of foreign players made the Bank Alfalah National Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup that rolled into action on Tuesday more tough and spirited. Addressing a press conference here at the Lahore Polo Club Launge on Wednesday, Irfan Ali Hyder, president Lahore polo, the presence of foreign players in the national championship clearly dispels the impression that the country is not safe for foreign teams playing here.
Regional Manager Bank Alfalah Saqib Ahmad and Product manager Shaigan Azhar were also present o the occasion.
These seven players from Argentina, one each from England and Chile have made the event more interesting and even the opening day matches has shown how closely matches are being contested. Irfan said that th associatio9n of Bank Alfalah has now become a regular feature which has now entered into its seventh year.
“The foreign players are placed in six teams while the two teams have no representation of the foreign players but even having no foreign players in their ranks the two local teams are doing good and producing desired results by offering tough competition of the teams having the services of foreign players,” the LPC president added.
Saqib Ahmad of Bank Alfalah said: “The participation of foreign players will help in developing a soft image of Pakistan across the globe besides giving boost to the ongoing efforts for the further promotion of polo. We will continue our association with polo in future as well to play our role in developing sports.”
The participating eights teams are Colony Sugar, BBJ Pipes, Al Khan/Ciros, Hataff/Diamond Paints, Guard Group/New Age, Master Paints Black, Pakistan Army/Nadra and Nestle. The final of the prestigious event will be played on March 9.
