Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Wednesday has directed the officers of Investigation and Operations wings to formulate a joint and concrete strategy to arrest proclaimed offenders and court absconders by giving individual targets to their sub-ordinates.
The CCPO said that increasing sense of protection among of the masses and eliminating the scourge of crime, arresting large number of proclaimed offenders is of great importance.
He ordered full-fledged crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders involved in heinous crime, and directed Lahore Police to evolve effective strategy to nab criminals involved in murder, robberies and kidnap-for-ransom. The CCPO informed that Lahore Police have arrested 2979 proclaimed offenders in the year 2012, who were wanted in 90 cases of murder, 86 cases of attempt of murder, 83 cases of robberies, 212 cases of theft, 316 cases of robbery and 2,192 other cases. Thus, 1,912 court absconders who were wanted in 4 cases of murder, 19 cases of attempt of murder, 5 cases of robberies, 100 cases of theft, 30 cases of robbery and 1754 other cases, were also arrested in this period.
