‘No, we won’t be importing kidnappings from Balochistan’

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday addressed a large public meeting in connection with the recovery of abducted persons in Sukheki.
He said he would fight till the end to curb kidnapping incidents and would respond to the call of every aggrieved person. He added that people had also appreciated his development projects such as Daanish Schools, laptops scheme and measures taken in the health sectors, but he felt that his government would be truly satisfied when people from the cities and villages of Punjab would live without any fear of robbers and thieves.
He said the traders abducted from Hafiz Abad had been recovered and the police had improved its image through their recovery and capturing their kidnappers. The CM appreciated the performance of Home Secretary Shahid Mehmood, Punjab Inspector General Habib ur Rehman, Gujranwala Regional Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains and District Police Officer Hafiz Abad Malik Karamat by calling them to the stage.
Sharif also announced the provision of furniture for Hafiz Abad Press Club, the establishment of a girls’ college and the construction of a sports ground in Sukheki.
DENGUE: The CM also said the worst ever epidemic of dengue last year was countered in an organised manner and due to the efforts of politicians, bureaucrats, doctors, experts and various institutions, the campaign for eradication of dengue had yielded positive results.
He said full preparations had been made for dealing with the possible outbreak of dengue this year as well. He said two cabinet committees were assisting institutions in the arrangements for prevention from dengue virus. He expressed gratitude to Sri Lanka and Indonesia for extending timely help in the drive against dengue. He welcomed the holding of international conference on dengue under the joint collaboration of World Health Organization and Punjab government and said that it has helped in benefitting from each others’ experiences. He was talking to the delegates of WHO and other countries in connection with international conference on dengue at Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Provincial ministers, assembly members, secretaries of various departments, senior doctors and experts were also present on the occasion.
WHO Country Head of Dr Guido Sabatinelli said dengue was the problem of the whole region. He also appreciated the commitment and dedication of the CM and his team in dealing with this problem. Sri Lankan expert Dr Hasitha Tissera and Indonesian expert Dr Rita Kusriastuti said that Punjab government made laudable efforts to counter dengue epidemic last year.
