CJ takes suo motu notice of Waheeda Shah slapping incident

Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the PPP candidate Waheeda Shah’s manhandling of a female assistant presiding officer and others during by-polls on Feb 25.
The Supreme Court issued notices to the PPP leader Waheeda Shah, Sindh IG Mushtaq Shah and Election Commission of Pakistan for appearing before the court on March 2.
Waheeda Shah had slapped presiding officer and others at a polling station in Tando Muhammad Khan during the polling for by-elections on PS-53.
The Election Commission of Pakistan had earlier withheld the result of by-election for PS-53, the constituency where the incident took place.
A case had also been registered against Shah on the directives of the Election Commission.
