Wapda outclassed Police in the Shaheed Kamran National Inter-departmental Baseball Championship at the UCP’s ground on Monday.
Wapda with 9-3 margin earned the first win in the championship. After both the teams failed to score any run in the first innings, Wapda made three runs in the second innings through Asif, Usman Butt and Imtiaz.Due to fine pitching by the pitchers of both the teams, no run was made in the next three innings by any team. Wapda plundered two more runs in the 6th innings as Waqas and Usman contributed one run each.
In the 7th innings, Wapda added one more run through Asif to build up the lead 6-0, before Police responded for the first time in the 7th innings scoring a run by Ali Raza to make it 7-1, as Wapda also collected one in this innings through Sumair Zawar. In the 8th innings, Zaheer Butt contributed one run to Wapda’s score to increase the lead 8-1. In the ninth innings, Police scored two run through Dure Hussain and Nasir Nadeem, while Zubair Yousuf made one run for Wapda to make the tally. In the second round of the championship, starting from Tuesday, Army will meet Police.
