The infamous vigilante morning show host, Maya Khan on Monday claimed in a talk show on Express News channel that all the subjects of the show in question where she raided a park with her team in her attempt at moral policing were ‘paid actors’.
It is pertinent to mention that Maya Khan was fired from her company after hosting a highly controversial television show where she raided a public park to catch ‘dating couples’ unaware and question them over immoral practices.
The programme sparked strong condemnation from various quarters, and several petitions were filed against the company seeking strong action against the controversial morning show host and an unconditional apology.
The new twist in the tale brings up some serious questions with regards to the extent the media has a right to infringe on the privacy of others.
Reality shows in other countries, including neighbouring India, have gained much currency, jacking up the ratings of the respective shows. However, it also highlights some serious concerns.
Saad Khan, a student of Punjab University said, “This is a serious case of deception. It is not for the media to invade the privacy of the people, and even if they didn’t it resulted in spreading panic among the masses.”
Yasmin Wahab, a teacher at a private institution said, “Media should ensure that there are strict guidelines on how to conduct television shows. By not doing so, it is not only compromising the integrity of an institution but also casts doubts over the truth behind their stories and reports.”

    • Maya khan did a good job. She tried to high light a sensitive topic. Our society is hypocrte. Double standard. She was not suppose to ask for apology

  14. That’s a desperate attempt to come back why she did not say that at first place. There is no difference in her statement and Waheeda shah press conference in which two faked women in burqa were introduced as paid actor as if they are presiding officer.

  29. She is probably telling a partial truth. Duplicity and fraud can be added to the charge of illegal persecution. If her producers and other administrators were in on the con being perpetrated on the public he/she/they should have also been sacked. People, we should conclude that Samaa TV shows fraud documentaries and lies to its viewers unless we receive proof to the contrary.

She wants to awareness of parents like rural area even they never knows about the modern society. Whereas the young generation takes very negative react. The last night Maya Khan also Aplogise but my assessment as a brother as a father that she takes very bold and positives steps regarding our society. We want to see maya again in tv.

  42. it becomes curiouser and curiouser…so i thought the producers of her show claimed to be unaware of the content of the show? does this mean she's supposed to have paid all those actors out of her own pocket? that would be extremely unusual. and if she didn't then the producers were aware of what was going on because they would have dished out the funds. any way you look at it, they were messing around with the public. Aid and done the programme, the compere and the producers were wrong to do what they did.This country and its entire moral police should be dumped into the arabian sea

  43. Who told Maya to come on Kamran Shahid's show like this and say things which she could have said on the very next day when the whole episode began. If I were to advice Maya, I would have never suggested her to come on any show and say that all the daters were paid actors. It was bound to backfire and more depression for Maya when she will read all this on different website. May Allah help Maya.
