Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has cautioned the PPP MPAs against electing Babar Awan as Senator pointing out that there were cases of corruption and contempt of court against him.
Talking to media at the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, Rana Sanaullah said a person accused of contempt of court has no moral justification to contest Senate elections. He said Babar Awan could be disqualified on charges of contempt of court even after elections. He also advised the PPP MPAs to see the past record of Babar Awan before casting their vote.
In reply to a question, the provincial law minister was of the opinion that the PPP would be in power till the election commission completes transparent voter lists.
He said those involved in firing incidents during by-elections would be arrested and action would be taken against them.
