Pakistan on Monday ruled out any change in its principled position of Kashmir saying media reports in this regard were misleading and far-fetched. Responding to a question about a news report published in a section of the Indian press on Monday, asserting that “Pakistan may junk Kashmir issue temporarily”, the Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said that such reports were misleading and far-fetched.
He said, “There is no change in Pakistan’s principled position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.” Basit said that the government and people of Pakistan strongly believed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “Pakistan would continue extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to the valiant Kashmiris in their legitimate struggle for right to self-determination.”
