European Union (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan Lars-Gunner Wigemark expressed concern over human rights abuse and dumping of bullet riddled bodies of missing persons in Balochistan. Speaking at consultative meeting on Balochistan’s development with civil Society at a dinner hosted by Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), Wigemark said that the EU will continue to support Balochistan in the development sector and securing the basic human rights of the people of Balochistan.
He said that the reports of human rights violations, enforced disappearance and recovery of bullet riddled bodies of political activists in Balochistan were troubling. He said that the poor security situation was another factor that hampered investment in the province. He said that although security was Pakistan’s internal affair but the EU suggests it takesteps to improve the situation. He said the EU considered Balochistan, a part of Pakistan. He said that the Balochistan issue should be resolved through dialogue.
