The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will launch the world’s largest voters’ Short Message Service (SMS) on 29th February at the ECP Secretariat. The SMS service will cater to 85 million voters throughout the country Using the service, eligible voters will be able to SMS their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300. In response, the voter will receive their voting details like electoral area name, block code, district and serial number. Voters’ details will not be revealed to protect their privacy. A press release issued stated: “Using the hi-tech technology the voters will get all the information regarding their vote within seconds. This service would minimise the possibility of errors in the final electoral rolls. The service is like a virtual display centre through which voters will be able to check their vote’s details.”
