In a case where apparently blood ties lose significance when it comes to property disputes and perhaps political loyalty, a Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leader has accused his brother, a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, of forcibly occupying his and his villagers’ agricultural lands in Tando Allahyar district.
Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, Mir Muhammad Khokhar of the PML-F and others from his village inlcluding Hanif, Nadeem Kashmiri, Govind Ram Bagri, Partab, Pir Bux Kolachi and Sher Mohammad Nahyon claimed that PPP’s Haji Khair Muhammad Khokhar, with the help of his armed men, has occupied their lands.
“These armed men take away standing crops of banana, sugarcane and mango. The police are also aiding them. We informed the media personnel about the situation but they were threatened by the local administration,” they said.
“Some media personnel, who tried to enter the area, were also attacked,” they added.
The PML-F leader said the “criminal group” is using the name of President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP MNA Faryal Talpur and Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan to carry out it illegal activities.
“I don’t think any of them is involved in all this as they are respectful people, and they need to take notice of this situation,” he added.
He said his elder brother is forcibly occupying agricultural lands and other properties with the help of the police and local administration.
Showing copies of court orders to the media, he said his brother resorted to these steps after he lost the property cases in the courts.
He said his elder brother kidnapped their father, Sardar Haji Ghulam Hussein Khokhar, when he was being treated at a hospital in Karachi.
Later, he had his father released with the help of District and Sessions Judge Karachi (South) Fahim Ahmad Siddiqi and took him abroad for treatment.
Later, a commission constituted by the high court headed by the then Sindh Advocate General, Muhammad Yousaf Leghari, visited Malaysia and recorded his father’s statement.
The PML-F leader claimed that in his statement, his father had given him authority over all his moveable and immovable properties.
