The demolition of the compound in Abbottabad that was the alleged hiding place of former al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden was completed on Sunday evening.
The demolishing process was started late on Saturday evening and continued for more than 20 hours.
The high-ups of the Pakistani armed forces had handed over the demolition process to civil administration on Sunday morning.
Abbotabad district coordination officer and district police officer were present to supervise the process, while heavy contingents of security forces were deployed around the area. All routes and streets connecting Bilal town with the rest of Abbottabad were blocked for traffic and passers-by and resident of the town were restricted to their homes.
Locals told Pakistan Today that the demolition of OBL mansion was completed amidst a curfew like situation.
The media, both local and foreign, were not allowed near the site.
The high-ups of both civil administration and armed forces refused to comment on the action.
Osama Bin Laden and four others were killed in a covert US raid on the compound on May 2, 2011. The land measuring seven kanals was purchased by an aide of Osama in 2004 and a three-story building was constructed over more than three kanals of the plot in Bilal town.
