The Pakistan and Indian wrestling contest has been cancelled after Indian district administration refused permission to organise the event on Sunday, citing security concerns. According to reports received here, the ‘Rustam-e-jahan’ contest was being organised by the Madhya Pradesh Olympic Council in collaboration with state’s youth and sports welfare department. Arjuna awardee wrestler Kripashankar Patel, chief of the Organising Committee, was peeved with the attitude of the administration. “We had made all the arrangements. The Pakistani wrestlers were on their way after getting visas. But today I got a letter from the district administration, saying that permission has not been granted,” Patel said. The organisers had got permission on February 15 after a senior officer intervened but now citing unavoidable reasons and security issues, permission has been cancelled. A seven-member Pakistani team was to compete in the tournament.
