SC orders police to recover kidnapped Christian girl

A two member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday directed the Inspector General (IG) of the Punjab police to recover a Christian girl of Arafwala, kidnapped a year ago, and produce her before the court on March 1.
The SC bench was hearing a petition filed by George Masih, the maternal uncle of the kidnapped girl, Rabia Masih, seeking the bail cancellation of her accused kidnapper and the recovery of his niece. The petitioner contended that his niece was abducted by accused Waris Masih from Arafwala a year ago, but the police had taken no action to recover her so far, which benefited the accused in getting bailed from the court.
He requested to the court to cancel the suspect’s bail and pass the order for the recovery of the abducted girl from his illegal custody. The bench issued notices to Waris for the cancellation of his bail, and also directed the IG police to recover the girl at the earliest from his illegal custody and produce her before the court on March 1.
