Baloch nationalist leader Harbiyar Marri on Friday rejected the government’s offer to retract the cases against him, as he witnessed situation going from bad to worse in the province. Talking to a private TV channel, Marri said he rejected Rehman Malik’s offer to withdraw cases against him, adding that he did not need permission to go back to Balochistan. He said Interior Minister Rehman Malik was not sincere and had no concern about the sufferings of Baloch people, as he deployed Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in the province for killing the Baloch people. Marri said on directions of Malik, tortured and mutilated bodies of Baloch people were being recovered in various areas.
Denying meeting Malik in the past as the interior minister claimed, Marri said he would never meet the killer of innocent Baloch people. “Pakistan is calling me a traitor, but I am thinking for and a well-wisher of the Baloch nation, which is being deprived of their rights,” he said. The rebel leader said the government first remained silent on Balochistan and ignored fundamental rights of the people, but now that the international community had started raising its voice, the government had started paying attention to the province’s issues.
