Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa said that despite international pressure the present government negotiated a historic deal of exporting wheat to Iran. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the 5th Pakistan flour milling conference here on Friday. The governor stressed the need for consultation with flour millers while drafting the flour policy. He said that he would talk to the government for reducing the burden of taxes on the flour mills and waiving off GST from their electricity bill. The governor said that he would recommend the federal government to ban the setting up of new flour mills in the country as the current number of mills was sufficient to meet the local requirement for the next ten years.
He also admitted the need of a flour-milling school in the country and said that skilled and educated labour would make a significant difference in the industry. Governor also hailed the arrangement of the conference and appreciated the efforts of Bilal Aslam Sufi saying that the services rendered by him for flour millers would always be remembered. Former Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Chairman Dr Bilal Aslam Sufi threw light on the objectives of the conference.
