Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed, taking notice of the beating of staff at a polling station of PS-53 on Saturday, sought a report in this regard from Sindh election commissioner.
Talking to the media, Ishtiaq Ahmed said no one could be allowed to beat the polling staff.
He said a report had been sought from provincial election commissioner who had also been directed to record statement of the presiding officer slapped by the Pakistan People’s Party’s candidate.
The ECP secretary said that action would be taken against the people responsible for the incident upon submission of the said report. “Providing protection to the polling staff is the responsibility of the ECP,” he added.
