The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday issued notices to the provincial government and the Zulfikarabad Development Authority (ZDA) managing director among other respondents on a petition filed against the appointment of a Punjab-domiciled officer as the director operations of ZDA. Adjourning the matter until March 29, the SHC divisional bench including Justices Maqbool Baqar and Nisar Muhammad Shaikh directed the Sindh chief secretary, Services & General Administration secretary and ZDA managing director to file their comments on the next date. Citing the Sindh government among others as respondents, Engineer Abdul Shakoor Palijo had filed a constitutional petition last year on September 24, submitting that the ZDA had advertised for the post of director operations having a domicile of Sindh and over 10 years of experience as prerequisites, but the authority later appointed Shaukat Alvi, having a domicile from Punjab and also having lesser experience than desired. The petitioner prayed that the court should declare the appointment of Alvi as illegal and issue orders for the recovery of salaries and other perks which he had obtained on the said post.
