The lower courts of Punjab Friday issued arrest warrants of 500 policemen over non presentation of witnesses and challans.
A cue to pull the police department was given by the Supreme Court during hearing earlier this week, the Chief Justice took a very serious notice of not presenting challans by police in hundreds of cases.
Following the the CJP’s observations, lower courts while reviewing the pending cases have taken stern action against police officers over their negligence in producing witnesses and challans of the accused despite court orders.
The courts have issued arrest warrants of 500 police employees across the province and ordered the CCPO and DIG Investigation to take stern action against the officers who don’t follow court orders.
