Actor Saif Ali Khan has been accused of assaulting a fellow diner at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai and will be arrested, police said. Police reached to arrest Khan from his house. “Khan has been charged with assault and participating in assault, as there were two or three others involved,” an official in the Mumbai police. “We are investigating.” Khan, 41, was dining with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and friends at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel on Tuesday night when he got into an argument with complainant Iqbal Sharma. Trade honcho Iqbal Nadim Sharma, 44, is a resident of Juhu, Mumbai. He’s a South African national of Indian origin. He was dining with his family at the same restaurant. The scuffle took place when Iqbal asked Saif Ali Khan to lower his volume.
Saif in turn asked him to go to a library if he wanted. An argument ensued and Saif allegedly punched the guy in the nose. Iqbal has sustained nose bone fracture. News reports say that it’s a case of trivial hurt and that it’s a bailable offence. According to the police, the statements of independent witnesses are being recorded and the investigation is under process. The police are expected to record statements of actors Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora as both were present during the time of the incident. Khan was later let off on bail. The actor had been earlier accused of assaulting a photojournalist in Patiala in 2008.
