A vast majority of Pakistanis – 91 percent – say the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices has directly affected them either severely (65 percent) or moderately (26 percent), according to a survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan and supported by Gilani Research Foundation. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked about the recently increased prices of petrol and diesel, and their influence on the people’s household budget.
In response, 65 percent claimed that their lives had been “severely affected” by the increased petrol and diesel prices, while 26 percent said they had been “moderately affected”. Five percent said they were “slightly affected” whereas 3 percent claimed they had not been affected at all. One percent of the surveyed population did not give a view.
