A petition has been moved in the Lahore High Court against the eligibility of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, contending that her textile mills’ owner husband, Feroz Gulzar, is a defaulter.
Asad advocate filed the petition, stating that Gulzar, spouse of the foreign minister, owns a textile factory namely Galaxy Mills in Faisalabad and he has not paid the due electricity bill amounting Rs 70 million since 2011.
The petitioner said, under article 630 of the constitution, if a parliamentarian remains defaulter for six months, he or she may be disqualified from the assembly membership.
The petitioner prayed to the court to start proceedings against the foreign minister as she is also responsible for the factory run by her husband.
