The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will assist in the organising of the Aalmi Mushaira on March 22, City Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed assured a delegation of the Saknan-e-Shehr-e-Quaid Mushaira Committee on Tuesday.
The convener of Aalmi Mushaira Committee, Azhar Abbas Hashmi, former federal minister Safwanullah, Afzal Siddiqui, Saif-ur-Rehman Girami, Rizwan Siddiqui, Ali Hassan Sajid, Muhammad Rehan Khan and Khurshid Shah were present on the occasion.
“Mushairas are part of our cultural traditions and they provide an opportunity to promote our language,” said Syed.
Later, while reviewing the arrangements for the mushaira, the administrator issued various directives including levelling of ground at the venue of event, fumigation and arrangement for drinking water, mobile bathrooms, fire tenders and deputation of city wardens for security.
He said the KMC will hold a reception to honour poets participating in the mushaira and also cooperate in the publication of selected poetry presented at the event.
On the occasion, he also became a member of the organising committee by paying Rs 6,000.
