Zahid Bukhari, the lawyer of former Pakistani ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, said on Wednesday that he would plead to the commission for a chance of cross-questioning Mansoor Ijaz in London.
“Cross-questioning is my legal right but it’s futile in the hearing through video link,” Bukhari told reporters before joining the Supreme Court commission at Islamabad High Court for recording Ijaz’s statement.
“Video link hearing will not work in cross-questioning. It’s very important to physically appear before the accused and observe his body language during the course,” said Bukhari.
He said he could not leave for London due to the shortage of time in spite of getting British visa.
