Govt boosting people’s living standard: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that government was pursuing the policy of raising the living standard of masses through information technology whereas communication technology had greatly helped in good governance in various sectors.
While talking to Microsoft Director Jeffrey Avina, he said that Daanish Technical University was being started from April 02 in the provincial metropolis for the promotion of information technology.
Punjab Information Technology Board chairman, Higher Education secretary and representatives of Microsoft Pakistan were also present on the occasion. The CM said the provincial government had connected the youth with the digital world through its comprehensive steps. He added that computer labs had been set up in government schools.
He said further that free laptops were being provided to the students so that the knowledge of the Pakistani youth could be broadened and they could gain information about latest developments in the world. He added that present government was endeavoring for improving its services by utilising digital technology so that maximum people could be benefited.
Terming the Punjab IT lab project as a milestone, the CM said the desire for acquisition of knowledge by the students belonging to poor families was increasing due to access to Internet and now these students were keeping themselves abreast with the changes happening in the world.
He said the education of international standard in information technology and computer sciences as well as latest technologies would be imparted in Daanish Technical University for producing experts in different sectors in Pakistan.
Jeffrey Avina, while talking on this occasion, said there was a great potential in Punjab province and its youth were talented who could be empowered through computer technology.
