The Capital Development and Administrative Division (CAAD) Secretary disrupted the Islamabad Chief Commissioner’s plan on Tuesday to shift some ICT administration offices to sector H/9. The CAAD secretary broke the locks and reoccupied the building, which had earlier served as the education ministry curriculum wing. After the devolution of the education ministry to the provinces, the building came under the control of the CAAD. Sources said Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada had moved a summary to Prime Minister Gilani stating that the ICT administration was facing a shortage of buildings. The summary stated that there were five buildings, which were previously being used by the education ministry, which were lying vacant in Sector H/9. The commissioner had requested the Prime Minster to allow the ICT to use three of the buildings. The PM secretariat issued a directive last week to the Housing and Works Ministry, ordering it to grant the ICT the possession of the curriculum wing.
This Monday, Industrial Area Assistant Commissioner Imran Sultan vacated 40 rooms and sealed the building. Later, CAAD Secretary Imtiaz Anyat Elahi visited the area and reoccupied the building after breaking the locks.
