UK issues visa to Haqqani’s lawyer

The British High Commission has finally issued visa to the lawyer of Pakistan’s former ambassador Husain Haqqani who is facing charges in secret memo scandal case.
“I received a phone call from the UK High Commission this morning that I have been issued visa for London. My associate Rana Akranm will collect it today from Islamabad High Court building,” Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari said.
He is scheduled to fly to London where Raja Jawad Abbas, Secretary of the Supreme Court commission probing into the scam, will record statement of Mansoor Ijaz, the key character of the scandal.
Abbas left for London on Sunday. Sources said he received all relevant evidences from Mansoor Ijaz besides reviewing arrangements for recording of his statement in London and before Pakistani commission in Islamabad, simultaneously, through a video link on Feb 22.
Though Bukhari was not sure about joining Wednesday’s hearing in London, but said he might leave for UK along with his team members. He said two of his associates would stay in Islamabad for the case hearing.
