Punjab medical students protest against exam results

Examination results of University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore irked students from affiliated colleges in Punjab, who blamed the academy for failing pupils deliberately to make money.
In Faisalabad, Punjab Medical College students took to roads on Tuesday. The infuriated male and female students blocked Sarghodha Road, causing severe traffic mess on intersections.
Staging protest demonstration, they alleged that UHS had deliberately failed hundreds of its medical students for making money through extra examination fees and paper rechecking charges.
“Even last year’s position holders could not pass the annual exam this time. Attitude of UHS administration is becoming intolerable,” one of the protesting students gave vent to his anger.
He was of the view that such ‘injustices’ create disappointment and play role as a motive behind the growing suicide trend among failed students.
Moreover, students from Nishtar Medical College staged a demonstration outside Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s residence in Multan, the hometown of the premier.
Refusing to accept the exam result, the enraged students called upon the PM to take action against UHC administration and remove the university Vice Chancellor immediately.
