‘Pro-MQM’ KU security guard gunned down

A security guard of the University of Karachi (KU) was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Monday, near the Bahar-e-Madina masjid in Abbas Town in the limits of the Khuldabad police post. ASI Raza Mohammad Solangi told Pakistan Today that Asfand Yaar Khan, 35, was killed by unidentified men on a motorcycle while he was heading towards the university. The police believe the victim was a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supporter. Separately, a man was killed by two unidentified men on a motorcycle near Qayyumabad graveyard in Sohrab Goth within the jurisdiction of the Sohrab Goth police station. The duty officer of the police station said Haji Noor Khan, 35, was shot dead while he was returning home after attending the wedding of his relative in Sohrab Goth. In another incident, a man was killed by unidentified culprits on a motorcycle at Mauripur Road, near Machhar Colony in the limits of the Docks police station. SHO Madad Ali Zardari said Ejaz, 30, was sitting with a friend when the assailants gunned him down. The police official said the victim hailed from Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
