Two-stroke rickshaws to be replaced with 4-stroke ones

The Punjab transport secretary has issued orders to replace two-stroke rickshaws with four-stroke ones or to convert two-stroke rickshaws into four-stroke rickshaws. Two-stroke rickshaws will be banned after March 1, the secretary said in a notification. The government was of the view that two-stroke rickshaws caused environmental pollution. The members of the rickshaw union protested against the orders and said the government was rendering them jobless in the name of pollution. They said the government was depriving the people of the affordable transport.

The police have completely failed to provide security to the people, they lamented.
TMA employees demand
selection board: The employees of Rawal Town TMA have demanded a proper job selection board to check favouritism in appointments and promotions.
The employees said they were worried over the situation and had asked the authorities concerned time and again to form a board for promotions on merit. They said that many employees had passed away, but they could not get promotions until their deaths. Many others would retire soon without getting promotions, but the department was taking no notice. The employees said the department urgently required a selection board so that the rights of the employees could be protected. They also said the board would ensure their job security.
