Doctors trained to tackle dengue

On directions of the Punjab CM, specialist doctors of dengue have provided training to doctors belonging to six districts at Lahore General Hospital. The doctors were trained about how to treat dengue patients and precautionary measures against the menace. The trainee doctors belong to Attock, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Chakwal and Bhakkar. Dr Shoaib Randhawa, Imran Hassan Khan and Dr Sheraz Anjam were among the trainers. PGMI Principal Dr Tariq Salahuddin hoped that dengue would not be very dangerous this year.
Separately, Special Assistant to the CM on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that in view of last year’s experience, preventive measures were taken against the possible outbreak of dengue this year and besides setting up of dengue control cells, special measures were taken in 13 districts of the province, including timely fogging, necessary training and provision of equipment for doctors and paramedical staff. He was holding a press conference at the DGPR Office regarding measures taken for dengue control.
Salman said that arrangements were also made in all hospitals. The MPA said that the Punjab Health Department was fully alert to deal with dengue. He said that teams of district administration were engaged in checking houses and fields checking but presence of dengue larvae was not detected anywhere until now.
