Agriculture growth in Punjab has fallen to 1.73 percent from 5.3 percent during the last four years. Pakistan Agri Forum Chairman Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal told APP on Sunday that the reduction in agriculture growth in the province was a result of flawed planning and policies during the last four years. He was of the view that policies of star farming, kitchen gardening and agriculture marketing were causes of decline in the growth.
He criticised former agriculture officials for not properly guiding the Punjab chief minister and said nothing had been achieved in this regard. He hoped agriculture officials would now seriously work to bring about improvement in the agriculture sector after overcoming four-year shortcomings in policies.
