The organizing committee of the Punjab Sport Festival reviewed the arrangements of the final phase of the mega sports event which is scheduled to be held later this month.
Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood Ahmed, on the directive Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Shareef, chaired a meeting at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore in which Secretary Sports Dr Allah Baksh, DG Sports Usman Anwar, MPA Saba Sadiq, Farrah Deeba and Aisha Javed participants.
Usman Anwar briefed Mashood about the preparations regarding the mega sports event which is to be held on February 28. The cycling and marathon routes had been discussed and the distances for both were finalised.
They decided to start the dress rehearsal for the 28th mega event from February 25.
Meanwhile, on the third day of the Punjab Sports Festival 2012 Inter-tehsil events, the volleyball college boys competitions were held in which Government Gulberg College got walkover against Punjab College of Commerce. Government University Lahore beat Government Islamia College Railway Road 3-0 (25-16, 25-14 and 25-18) while Government College Lahore defeated FC College 3-0 (25-12, 25-8 and 25-18).
In hockey boys college, Superior College beat Government College Gulberg 4-0 while in the final, Punjab College beat Superior 5-0.
In boys college football, Model Town College beat Government College Iqbal Town 2-0. FC College beat Government Science College 2-0.
In cricket college boys, Government College Shahdra, Shalimar, Punjab, FC and Islamia Colleges were the winners. In volleyball boys, Government College Lahore beat Islamia College Railway Road 3-0, Government College Lahore defeated FC 3-0 while Gulberg College got walkover.
In the volleyball college girls, Government College Samanabad beat APWA Degree College 2-0 (25-6, 25-2). Township College for Women beat Government Degree College Mozzang 2-0 (25-7, 25-12). Government Technology College defeated Aisha Degree College 2-0 (25-5, 25-5).
In the girls basketball, Kinnaird College got first position, Home Economics College was second.
In karate girls college, Queen Marry was first, Superior College second and Islamia College third. In karate school girls, Lahore City secured first position with 45 points, Shalamar Cantt was second with 30 points and Model Town managed third place with 15 points.
In hockey girls colleges, Kinnaird College beat Technical College 3-0, Lahore College beat APWA College 3-0, Township College defeated Kuliatul Binat 2-0, Government College Baghbanpura beat Jinnah Degree College 40, Government College Wahdat Road defeated Shadbagh College 3-0 and Apwa College thrashed Model Town College 2-0.
In athletics boys, Mohsin from Punjab College of Commerce won the 100 m race, Samson won 200 m, Rao Adil won 800 m, Faisal Abbas won shot put, Mohammad Usman won javelin throw while Sajid Masih won the 1500 m races while Affan from Government College University won the 400 m and Adnan won the long jump events.
