Founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadir Khan on Saturday paid rich tribute to late Muslim educationist-reformist Sir Syed Ahmad Khan saying that he laid foundation of Pakistan by establishing Aligarh University.
He further said Sir Syed Ahmad Khan would be remembered for ages to come for his great contribution in making the history of Muslims in the Sub-Continent as well as giving them a realisation about their future. Dr AQ Khan while addressing an august gathering on the eve of inauguration of a an auditorium after his name at Awan-e-Sir Syed and Annual General Meeting of Sir Syed Memorial Society here said that good people enjoyed immortal lives and great services to the national cause rendered by Sir Syed would also be remembered for centuries.
He also paid tribute to the wisdom of the people and said that masses could not be befooled by false claims or lame excuses as people were well aware of the realities and facts and people also well identified those who committed injustices with the nation. Dr AQ Khan also observed that Sir Syed Memorial Society had also done great job in promoting nationalism among the youth as well as making teachings and ideologies of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan public. Speaking on the occasion, Brig Iqbal Shafi, President Sir Syed Memorial Society, added that better leadership could not be produced without personality building of the youth and society had signed a memorandum of understanding with Federal Directorate of Education for personality building of 10,000 students of 115 schools and colleges. “Efforts are underway for establishment of Sir Syed University”, he said. Sir Syed Memorial Society Secretary General Dr Shoab A Khan told the gathering that 25 people had received PhD degrees from Sir Syed University and the university won positions in international robotic competitions seven times.
each and every muslim living in the subcontinent is indebted to this great man, sir syed ahmed khan.the beacon of light he provided to the muslims through education will live through centuries, as almost half of the total worlds muslim population live in the subcontinent, and generation after generation coninues to benifit from his immortal copntrbutions towards educating muslims in making them stand high in compition with the world over.it is really unforunate that we in pakistan have no idea of the AHSAN he has done to us .one single most serious reason of the mess we are in is that we have forgotten the man and his mission, sir syed , who was responsible for all we are proud of in this world of technology today . munawar mirza
