Pakistan on Saturday said the draft resolution on Balochistan tabled in the US House of Representatives was an “unfriendly and irresponsible” attempt against the United Nations Charter and international law. In a statement, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar took a strong exception to the draft bill on Balochistan submitted in the US House of Representatives on Friday. She said although the bill was an isolated move by a few individuals, it was contrary to the principles of UN Charter and international law.
She said the bill was also against the very fundamentals of the long-standing US-Pakistan relations. She said the National Assembly had unanimously adopted a resolution condemning a recent open hearing on Balochistan by the Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Oversight and Investigations. “The National Assembly resolution had clearly represented the legitimate reaction of the people of Pakistan,” she said.
She said such an unfriendly and irresponsible attempt by a few individuals in Washington was aimed to create distrust between the peoples of the two countries. She expressed the hope that the tendentious move would not be allowed to sail through the House by a vast majority of US congressmen who continued to support friendly relations between the two countries.
Soon after the bill was tabled on Friday, Pakistan strongly reacted to the move dubbing it “ill-advised and irresponsible”, saying the resolution showed utter disrespect for international norms and practices.
Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher had introduced a House Concurrent Resolution, which says that the Baloch nation has a right to self-determination.
The bill stated that the Baloch people “have the right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country; and they should be afforded the opportunity to choose their own status”.
According to the resolution, the people of Balochistan that are “currently divided between Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, have the right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country, and they should be afforded the opportunity to choose their own status among the community of nations, living in peace and harmony, without external coercion”.
Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said, “We are confident that this ill-advised and irresponsible move will not be allowed to sail through.” He said the bill was a self-serving attempt on part of those who were driven by arrogance and ignorance. “The bill shows utter disrespect for international norms and practices,” he added.
Meanwhile, State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said the US had no intention to interfere in Pakistan’s affairs. In a briefing to newsmen in Washington, she said the US had concerns over the Pakistan-Iran-Afghanistan gas pipeline project.

  1. The so-called tabled resolution by the American House of Representatives seeking Balochistan`s soveriengty is open interference in Pakistan`s internal affairs and we the common people of Pakistan stringly condemn this act of shamable and baseless prapoganda agaisnt our country.America failed to fulfil its wrong objects through other ways, now playe a naked and shameful game and drama. But if we unite,America`s dad cannot harm Pakistan.America is not the fully bloody master of the world, which she started in 1945 by thowing atom bombs on Japan and is still keen to command the whole world by its negative and brutial policies.America did separate Soviet Unions and she is not happy over this and now is dreaming to conquer the whole world.China and Russia have to change their policies, otherwise they will be the next targets of itt`s naked and aggressive plans. They have to sit togher ans adopt the new policies to block American naked plans.

  2. Protest? Thats all we're going to do? How about we totally lock down all NATO supply lines, create a nightmare for them in Afghanistan, shut down their embassies and consulates and throw out all foreign NGOs and agencies? That would be a good START

  3. This might focus some minds. http://www.dawn.com/2012/02/15/can-pakistan-survi

Recently Turkey got rather upset by the French decision regarding the Armenian Genocide. That's the way it goes, states make comments which upset other states, nothing however comes of it. The US will give aid, Pakistan will accept it, complain a bit then get on with business.

    • Turkey situation is different as the Armenia affair happened over a 100 years ago. Turkey does not need France anymore and with Europe in financial troubles, Turkey may decide not even to pursue its EU Membership.

Situation is different in Pakistan as it is here and now. With CIA agents creeping in Pakistan under the cover of fighting terror, NGO's businessmen etc., they have been actively fueling insurgency from within Pakistan and through Afghanistan. The resolution may just be to hit back on the the trilateral summit, but is seems rather risky and reckless though. If Pakistan stops air routes and all cooperation with US on Afghanistan, things could get pretty difficult for them.

Also, I doubt if the old style relationship of aid and give-in will continue. There is a deep desire in Pakistan to forgo the aid and be self sufficient.

  4. every who & who sitting in Isloo be a fauji general, a bureaucrat or a politician always keep on dreaming about moving his family/assets to US despite the fact that US is now a failed economic misery with opportunity eroding at speed of light!! The Islamabadies are biggest poodles of the US including Chaklala set up!! Whereas the rest of the country moves towards north, Islamabadies prefer to move south! In a coming era that ll be dominated by China, Russia, APAC and Latin American Block, this "inferiority complex" of moving to US in Islamabad is the biggest hurdle in the way forward for Pakistan!!

    • Very true analysis….Islamabadites are the real US lovers in Pakistan who sell their country men on every opportunity they get.

  5. All we need is the proper taxation systems, linked with NADRA cards and regulated industry followed by R&D in industrial development. We dont need any AID from US and others, South Korea became 13 richest nation on earth starting same 5 years plans like Pakistan in same period like us in mid 80's but they are now 13 richest nation. Based on extradition treaty between Pak and US, write an application in Superem court against this senator, International laws are obliged to produce this US senator in Pak Supereme court. Think Guys. We have options and choices but we lay back and dont use them. Thx

  6. From last 50-60 years we the followers of Islam have had many times fiercely demanded Huriyat in India Occupied Kashmir…we passed resolutions in our assemblies thousand of times…we fought with help of Jihad…Insha Allah…Pakistan always supported this generous cause of Muslims in India & Kasmir. Pakistan is the only nation who understands the wishes of Momins in South Asia… Pakistan has the right to rule the lands of Muslims…under such conditions how can America interfere in our problems…Balochistan is ours…minerals and gas found in Balochistan is ours…America go to hell…Kill America…

  7. America – we are not your 51st state! We are a nuclear power! Stop kissing Indian butt and stay out of our business! Balouchistan will never leave Pakistan. Frikkin ignorant white trash.

  8. I am really impressed by the americans. atleast they know where Baluchistan lies.
Show them a map and ask them to locate it, you will be surprised at their intelligence. Nearlly 85% have never been abroad and if they have it has been europe. They want our our Baluchi brothers to exercise the right of self determination now .Our friends are forgetting the simple fact that Pakistan now is a democratic country. Even under a dictator the prime minister for a period was from Baluchistan. We have our problems and we will sort them ourselves. We don.t need resolutions from USA. Please give us a break! After all we gave you bases in Baluchistan

  9. Pakistan is neither Iraq, nor Afghanistan. We are a nation of 170 million people with an ideology, having glorious history and fabulous strategic culture and promising geo-strategic location, 7th largest military in the world and a nuclear power. So I would simply say: ‘Don’t Mess With Pakistan’!

  10. Bill in US congress is a culmination point of the vandalized hypocrisy against Pakistan which is bitterly venomous for the young blood of Balochistan as Baloch separatists are receiving financial assistance from some Washington’s addresses by the name of Balochistan Legal Fund (BLF) while USA is still unable to halt it. Apart from neglecting Pakistan’s sensitivity Pentagon’s Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), along with CIA and same fashioned intelligence outfits: RAW, Mosad and a rented gang of killers i.e. Blackwater (Xe), are hand in glove with Baloch separatist sub-nationalist elements, which are posing a real challenge to the country’s geographical unity. These are not conspiracy theories as the mainstream Western and Indian media hails, rather these are the moves even exposed by many western independent observers and journalists. Jeremy Scahill, an American investigative journalist and security commentator, the author of the best-selling book Blackwater: the Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, winner of a George Polk Book Award, has confirmed the clandestine activities of these notorious elements inside Pakistan, in his article ‘Blackwater’s black ops’. An other Washington-based journalist, Wayne Madsen in his article titled, Pakistan: Blackwater/Xe Hits in Quetta, written on September 14, last year has confirmed the above mentioned agencies, especially Blackwater’s involvement in different “false-flag terrorist attacks” and in the various recent incidents of sectarian strife in Pakistan and also their coordination with TTP and other terrorist groups operating inside Pakistan. This assertion is clearly verified by the recent shameless incident of Lahore, the capital city of Punjab, the American secret operative Raymond Davis, under the cover of a diplomat, ruthlessly killed three citizens. this hatched conspiracy must be foiled and all patriotic elements must voice against this open interference of US and its like-minded countries.

  11. start by the name of Allah
I am from Baluchistan and a student of master of economics. I have studied for a long time the conditions of Baluchistan and relation with Pakistan as a part of this country, we better know that America is trying to make Baluchistan as an independent country and it will make America able to rule over Pakistan and specially to get priceless resources of Baluchistan because that will than become so easy for America to defeat Baluchistan. In that case Baluchistan will not be able to compete a super power like America and these resources will make America able to get all over the Muslim world………which is the biggest treasure of natural resources specially for minerals………..we openly say that America will never become able to rule over us because we are united and always ready to lay down ourselves for our people and our country…
    God bless Our country Pakistan…
